What GA4 Events are published by GTM Assistant App


Google analytics 4 (GA4) is a new version of Google analytics that uses an event-based data model for measurement across platforms. Events are user interactions with your website or app that can be measured and analysed. Parameters are additional information that provide context for the events.


GA4 provides two types of events: default and ecommerce. 


  • Default events are automatically collected by GA4 without any additional code, such as page_view, session_start, user_engagement, etc. 

  • Ecommerce events are manually added by you to measure the shopping behavior of your users, such as view_item, add_to_cart, purchase, etc.


Ecommerce events require additional context to be meaningful, so you need to add parameters to the events that provide information about the products or services you sell and the user interactions with them. Ecommerce parameters can be either at the item level (such as item_id, item_name, item_category, etc) or at the event level (such as value, currency, coupon, etc).


The following table shows the list of ecommerce events and their parameters that are available for GA4:

Ecommerce data can help you optimize the shopping experience on your ecommerce website or app by showing you the most popular products, the influence of promotions and product placement on revenue, and the conversion funnel of your customers. You can also use ecommerce data to create audiences and remarketing campaigns based on user behavior.


To collect ecommerce data, you need to add ecommerce events to your website or app or in your Google Tag Manager container. All ecommerce platform like Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, Pretashop etc.. need the ecommerce events to created with code to able to track them.

Just install the app, configure it with your Google account and app will automatically setup the selected ecommerce events for tracking to the google analytics. 


GTM Assistant shopify app uses the “Google Tag Manager” to publish the ecommerce tags to Google analysis & other third party services like Meta Pixel.

    • All  events that are possible in GA4
